WEEK 3
Our week in Swaziland
was very emotionally draining, we spent one afternoon at the hospital in
Manzini praying for people and just spending time with them. I spent time sitting with a young girl and
just crying with her, she is HIV + and just lost her baby boy a few days
earlier. I had no words to share with
her just tears; her name is Njabulisa which means ‘gladness’. The only way I knew of to share the love of
Christ with Njabulisa was to share in her sorrow. That day I also met 2 amazing women of God,
Zodwa and Regina,
in the women’s surgical ward. I sat with
Regina and read
scripture to her, she is diabetic and losing her eye sight, her legs were
amputated that week. Her favorite
scripture is Isaiah 53:5. It was amazing
to be able to encourage these women and hear their testimonies. There are so many stories that I would love
to share with you on how God has worked in amazing ways such as when I met a
woman named Sambosi – she’s probably in her early 90’s – we couldn’t understand
each other at all but we sat together and just giggled, finding joy in the
Spirit. There are so many things that
I’ve seen and experienced so far in Africa,
things I haven’t quite found words for yet – things that make me angry that I
can’t do anything about but cry. I don’t
understand any of it but I trust in God’s character and we serve a good, just
and loving God. All I know is that if my
heart breaks this much for the people and circumstances here I can’t even
imagine the heart of God. Isaiah 61 has
become my prayer for those who have been rejected, forgotten, mistreated and
abused – those society has turned their backs on and refuse to love, hold or
acknowledge.
